US actor Mark Ruffalo calls for a ceasefire in Gaza: 'They must give peace a chance'
Attending the Directors Guild of America Awards, actor Mark Ruffalo said, "We are asking world leaders to demand a permanent ceasefire, to give peace a chance. What is wrong with giving peace a chance?"
US actor Mark Ruffalo has called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Attending the Directors Guild of America Awards ceremony, Ruffalo, along with other celebrities, wore a lily-shaped pin and a red circular badge on his jacket.
Ruffalo stated that the lilies symbolize the 'peace lily,' while the red circular badge represents 'Artists for Ceasefire.'
'NO HUMANITARIAN AID CAN ENTER'
Stating that they, as artists, are calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, Ruffalo noted that it is now understood that the bombing is not working.
Emphasizing that the path to peace should not involve more bombing, Ruffalo said, "What is wrong with giving peace a chance? There are 1 million refugees at the Rafah border facing another wave of bombardment, 400 thousand people are starving to death, and no humanitarian aid can enter there.
Therefore, we are asking world leaders, especially President Joe Biden, to demand a ceasefire, a permanent ceasefire, and to give peace a chance."
