One of the doyens of economic journalism, Faruk Türkoğlu, has passed away.

Faruk Türkoğlu's funeral will be held on Monday, April 1, at the Beylikdüzü Fatih Sultan Mehmet Mosque following the afternoon prayer, and he will be laid to rest at the Büyükçekmece New Cemetery.

WHO IS FARUK TÜRKOĞLU?

Faruk Türkoğlu was born in 1942 in Yalvaç, Isparta. He graduated from Istanbul High School and the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. Türkoğlu wrote columns for the newspapers Sabah, Dünya, Posta, and Referans. He served as a lecturer at the Istanbul University Faculty of Communication, where he taught economics courses.

He worked for 2 years in the Tax Control department of the Istanbul Defterdarlığı (Provincial Finance Office) and for 8 years as a Collective Bargaining Specialist for the Turkey Mine Workers' Union (Türkiye Maden İş), which is affiliated with DİSK. He served as an economy reporter for the newspapers Günaydın, Güneş, Yeni Asır, and Rapor.

Türkoğlu, who authored numerous books such as İktisat Belleteni (Economics Bulletin), Değişimin Kimyası (The Chemistry of Change), Hızlı Büyüme Mümkün (Rapid Growth is Possible), Gazeteci Oluyorum (I Am Becoming a Journalist), Derinden Gelen Kökler (Roots Coming from Deep Within), and Neden Geç Kaldık (Why Are We Late), also wrote the Ansiklopedik Ekonomi & İş Hayatı Sözlüğü (Encyclopedic Dictionary of Economics & Business Life).
