Melisa Aydınalp, known for the 'Freedom for Breasts' case, stages a new protest for the Istanbul Convention

Model Melisa Aydınalp, who drew attention in recent months by walking on Bağdat Avenue in a bikini while carrying a sign reading "freedom for breasts," had been detained by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and referred to the courthouse.

Melisa Aydınalp was acquitted in recent months in the trial where she was being tried for the crime of 'Indecent Behavior', facing a potential prison sentence of 6 months to 1 year.

The indictment stated, "Looking at the concrete case, it is understood that the defendant covered her private parts with her clothes, and no evidence was obtained that she engaged in public sexual intercourse or committed exhibitionism in the manner specified within the scope of the article, therefore it was decided to acquit the defendant."

Aydınalp, who had not been seen for a while, held a protest in Bebek, Istanbul, this time to protest femicides.

Carrying a sign, Aydınalp said the following after the protest:

"Today, I brought my friend, activist Burçak Tekin, with me. Women's rights and the Istanbul Convention are on the agenda, and the current withdrawal from the convention in our country causes the death and massacre of women every day. While each of us is being murdered by a man, neither our safety nor our right to life is being taken into account by the current government.

While each of us is being killed one by one, we are also subjected to shaming and humiliation after being killed, from what clothes we were wearing when we were killed to what time we were outside. Femicides are also fueled by failed state policies. Every woman deserves to live her life with her own choices, her own economic freedom, and by having a say over her own body. It is not very possible for other people's lives to be free without women being free. We held this protest for a return to the Istanbul Convention. We dedicate this protest to all the women who have been murdered..."
