Warning from experts regarding mineral water

Contrary to the common belief that mineral water contains high amounts of magnesium, a bottle contains an average of 10 to 20 milligrams of magnesium. It is noted that with absorption in the body, this amount drops to approximately 5 milligrams.

An adult's daily magnesium requirement is on average at the level of 300-400 milligrams. Therefore, one bottle of mineral water meets only a small portion of the daily requirement.

For example, to reach the approximately 150 milligrams of magnesium that can be obtained from a handful of pumpkin seeds, one would need to consume an average of 15 bottles of mineral water.

RELIEVING EFFECT AFTER MEALS

The relief felt when drinking mineral water, especially after heavy meals, is due to bicarbonate and carbon dioxide.

While bicarbonate helps alleviate discomfort by buffering stomach acid, carbon dioxide stimulates stomach and intestinal movements, contributing to the reduction of indigestion and constipation complaints.

KIDNEY STONE DETAIL

Concerns that mineral water may lead to kidney stones have also been addressed in expert evaluations. According to research, it is stated that consuming 1-2 bottles per day does not cause the formation of calcium oxalate stones.

It is expressed that the risk in this regard could only arise at unusual consumption levels, such as 20-30 bottles per day.

THE MAIN POINT CONSUMERS SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO

According to experts, one should pay particular attention to the sodium ratio when choosing mineral water.

It is recommended to choose products with low sodium content to prevent edema and excessive sodium loading in the body.

Furthermore, it is stated that natural products containing no colorants or sweeteners should be selected. It is also pointed out that "mineralized waters," which are prepared by adding small amounts of minerals to processed water, are not the same as natural mineral waters.

While it is stated that mineral water is a refreshing and digestion-facilitating beverage, it is emphasized that attention should be paid to the amount consumed and the content of the chosen product.
