According to the New York and London-based research firm Opinium, there is an increase in the number of people who cut off communication after a first date due to financial concerns regarding dating habits.

According to the report in BBC Türkçe, the survey conducted by Opinium emphasizes that 47 percent of participants stated they do not want to spend money on people they are not sure about and prefer to end dates early.

Opinium director and partner Kate Jalie said, "As prices rise, single people across the country are becoming more ruthless when it comes to their love lives, and many are taking precautions to ensure they are not overspending."

Relationship coach and television presenter Fahima Mahomed points out that people are "not as patient as they used to be." Mahomed states that people today are accustomed to meeting their needs instantly through websites like Amazon, and that singles also want instant gratification. Emphasizing that the pandemic may also have lasting effects, Mahomed states that this situation may make single people more impatient.
