Good news has arrived regarding Yaren the stork, who has become the mascot of the Eskikaraağaç Stork Village in the Karacabey district of Bursa. Yaren the stork, known for its years-long friendship with fisherman Adem Yılmaz, saw its first chick hatch this year. Migrating to the village every year and attracting great interest from nature enthusiasts, Yaren the stork was closely followed by citizens upon its 15th arrival.

Activity began in the nest Yaren built with its mate as soon as it returned to the village on February 24th. The members of the stork family were reunited with their nest after their long journey. The hatching of the first chick has further increased the excitement in the village.

According to observations by wildlife photographer Alper Tüydeş, Yaren and its mate are taking close care of their offspring.

While there is no definitive information on how many chicks will be in the nest, Tüydeş stated in a post on his social media account, "As of yesterday, the first chick of Yaren the Stork has hatched. The parents immediately began to care for the chick. We cannot see clearly due to the angle, but I think we will have 3 or 4 chicks this year."

This special stork and the bond it has formed with the villagers have made Eskikaraağaç a well-known spot both in Turkey and in Europe. As the only village representing Turkey in the European Stork Villages Network, Eskikaraağaç attracts thousands of nature lovers every year. The friendship story between Yaren and fisherman Adem Yılmaz ensures that the stork nest in the village is followed with interest on both national and international stages.

With the hatching of Yaren the stork's first chick, all eyes are now on the other eggs in the nest and potential new arrivals. The residents of Eskikaraağaç village and nature photographers continue to closely monitor new developments.
