According to the information obtained, the 2nd Traditional Mevlid-i Şerif and Pilaf Day event was held in the rural Çitli neighborhood of İnegöl district to commemorate deceased citizens with prayers and to strengthen unity and solidarity.
Chicken and rice was served to approximately one thousand people at the event, which was attended by many people from neighboring districts as well as local residents.
About 3 hours after the event, some citizens began to experience symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
The affected citizens sought treatment at İnegöl State Hospital. It was learned that the number of people who applied to the hospital reached approximately 100.
An investigation into the incident has been launched by the gendarmerie teams.
While the focus is on the suspicion of food poisoning caused by the chicken and rice, the exact cause of the incident is expected to be clarified following the investigations.
