15-year prison sentence for individual who killed specialist sergeant

A verdict has been reached in the trial of the defendant who stabbed and killed a specialist sergeant during a fight between two groups in Kayseri. The hearing at the Kayseri 2nd High Criminal Court was attended by the detained defendant F.B., the victim U.C.D.'s wife F.D., his mother S.D., his father Y.D., and the lawyers for both parties.

In his defense, the defendant F.B. stated, "I did it because of what was done to my family and myself. I am very regretful. I did not want to kill anyone."

The court panel sentenced the defendant F.B. to 15 years in prison for the crime of Intentional Killing.

In the Mimsin neighborhood of the Melikgazi district, vehicles carrying two groups leaving different wedding halls were involved in an accident. U.C.D., who was wounded with a knife during the ensuing fight between the parties, could not be saved at the hospital where he was taken, and F.B., who was taken into custody, was arrested. Specialist Sergeant U.C.D., who was serving in Diyarbakır, had come to Kayseri for his brother's wedding.
