2 dead in brawl that started on a turf field and spread to 4 provinces

The incident began when a fight broke out between two families playing soccer against each other on a turf field in Şanlıurfa, which was initially ended by the intervention of bystanders.

Members of the two families, who are horse breeders, encountered each other yesterday evening at racetracks in Diyarbakır and Elazığ, as well as in Ankara. The verbal arguments that began in all 3 provinces suddenly turned into a brawl involving stones, sticks, and knives.

Families living in neighboring villages in Şanlıurfa, who heard that a fight had broken out among their relatives at the racetracks, also joined the fray.

The 8 people injured in the fight in Diyarbakır were taken to hospitals by ambulance after receiving initial medical intervention.

Bayram and Ahmet Çizik, who were among those taken to the hospital in Diyarbakır, could not be saved despite medical efforts and lost their lives. It was reported that the treatment of 11 people injured in Diyarbakır and Elazığ is ongoing.

The investigation launched into the incident is continuing.
