2 neighborhoods evacuated in Çeşme

As efforts to extinguish a fire that started in an agricultural area and spread to a forested area in the Çeşme district of İzmir continue, 2 neighborhoods have been evacuated.

The fire, which started in an agricultural area in the Ildır neighborhood of Çeşme district and later spread to a forested area, continues to grow due to the effect of the wind.

The fire is being fought from the air with 5 aircraft and 18 helicopters, and from the ground with 36 fire trucks, 13 water tenders, and 4 bulldozers belonging to the İzmir Regional Directorate of Forestry.

Teams are making an extraordinary effort to bring the flames under control in the region where the wind is strong.

Despite all the interventions by the teams from both the air and the ground, the flames reached the Ildır and Germiyan neighborhoods.

Following the call made by law enforcement officers, the entire Germiyan neighborhood and a section of Ildır have begun to be evacuated.
