3 people hospitalized in Bolu due to insecticide odor

Three people were hospitalized in Bolu after being affected by the odor following mosquito spraying conducted during the night.

The incident occurred on Işıklı Street in the Karamanlı neighborhood. According to the information obtained, mosquito spraying was carried out on the street using a vehicle. Following the spraying, 76-year-old S.U., who is reported to have asthma, began experiencing shortness of breath around 01:00.

Upon the notification by her relatives, a medical team was dispatched to the address. Two healthcare workers who entered the apartment to reach the flat where S.U. was located also fell ill after a short while.

Following this, additional medical teams, as well as police, AFAD, and fire department teams, were directed to the area. S.U. and the 2 healthcare workers, who received initial treatment at the scene, were taken by ambulance to the Köroğlu Unit of Bolu İzzet Baysal State Hospital on suspicion of being affected by the insecticide odor.

AFAD CONDUCTED AN INSPECTION IN THE APARTMENT

AFAD teams conducted an inspection in the apartment where S.U. lives. It was learned that no negative findings were encountered during the initial checks.

S.U.'s daughter, Z.Ç., stated that her mother has asthma and bronchitis, saying, "My mother already has asthma and bronchitis. She had difficulty breathing after the smell of the spraying. We called the ambulance. The healthcare workers were also affected by the smell when they arrived at the apartment. Spraying is done every evening. Our windows were open. My mother fell ill after the smell."
