306 kilograms of horse meat ready for sale seized in Silivri
Gendarmerie teams in Istanbul's Silivri district launched an operation after receiving a tip-off that horse meat was about to be put on the market. During the operation, 306 kilograms of horse meat ready for sale were seized, and 3 suspects were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action following a tip-off that a network was preparing to put horse meat on the market.
Under the coordination of the prosecutor's office, gendarmerie teams conducted an operation at an address in the Beyciler neighborhood of Silivri.
During the operation, 306 kilograms of horse meat ready for sale, with a market value of 150 thousand TL, were seized, and Durmuş S., Nedim B., and İbrahim A. were taken into custody.
The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the 3 detained individuals on charges of "threatening public health."
It was learned that the suspects' interrogations at the gendarmerie are ongoing and they are expected to be referred to the courthouse tomorrow.
