6-vehicle pileup on the Anatolian Motorway

The accident occurred on the Ankara-bound Gümüşova ramps of the Anatolian Motorway. According to the information received, a vehicle traveling from Istanbul toward Ankara had a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control and strike the barriers. Five other vehicles traveling in the same direction then collided with the vehicle that had spun out, resulting in a pileup.

In the accident, which left the motorway looking like a battlefield, there were fortunately no deaths or injuries. Following the accident, numerous tow trucks and police teams were dispatched to the area. As the tow trucks removed the vehicles from the road one by one, one driver was towed away while still inside their vehicle.

Long vehicle queues formed in the direction of Ankara as a result of the accident. The road was fully reopened to traffic once the vehicles were removed.
