64-year-old man arrested for allegedly insulting the President
A man has been arrested in the Alanya district of Antalya for allegedly insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The incident took place in a park located in the Güllerpınarı neighborhood of Alanya.
According to the allegations, R.K. (64) used expressions in the park that were claimed to be insulting toward President Erdoğan. Police took action following reports from citizens in the area.
In the investigation initiated by the District Police Department under the instructions of the Alanya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was identified and taken into custody in a short time.
R.K., whose procedures at the police station were completed on the same day, was referred to the courthouse.
The suspect, who was brought before the on-duty Criminal Court of Peace, was arrested on charges of 'insulting the President' and sent to prison.
It was reported that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
