7-day ban on demonstrations and marches in Şırnak

The Şırnak Governor's Office has announced that all actions and events in the city have been banned for 7 days following the removal of Hakkari Mayor Mehmet Sıddık Akış from office by the Ministry of Interior and the appointment of Hakkari Governor Ali Çelik as Deputy Mayor.

In the statement made by the Governor's Office, it was stated: "Except for events deemed appropriate by the Governor's Office and District Governor's offices, programs organized by public institutions and organizations, official holidays, official commemoration days, sports activities, official ceremonies and celebrations, and programs to be held by these institutions in accordance with their traditions and customs, as well as congresses to be held by unions and political parties in accordance with their bylaws, all kinds of open-air meetings and demonstration marches, mass welcoming and farewell ceremonies, press statements, sit-ins, rallies, tent pitching, signature campaigns, stand openings, mass funeral ceremonies and cemetery visits, commemoration ceremonies, festivals, concerts, entertainment, theatrical performances, demonstrations, etc., likely to be held for the purposes mentioned above, all kinds of actions and events of this type, all kinds of audio and visual activities that can be carried out with sound broadcasting vehicles, all kinds of aerial activities such as flying wish lanterns, balloons, drones, paramotors, etc., and the distribution of flyers, stickers, brochures, etc., and the hanging of posters and banners, etc., excluding the commercial activities of private legal entities with commercial identity, and the collective entry and exit of individuals coming from outside our province to participate in actions and events to be held throughout our province, as well as collective travel between the city center and districts, have been banned for 7 (seven) days from 00:01 on 04.06.2024 to 23:59 on 10.06.2024 throughout the entire provincial borders (Geographical Area - City Center, Districts, all Police and Gendarmerie responsibility zones), including the Şırnak city center and districts."
