Academic claims harassment by former student: 'I have been a prisoner for 7 months'

According to the allegations, Aldeniz Tuğçe Ezme Gürlek, an academic working at the university, filed a criminal complaint claiming that she has been receiving constant harassment and threatening messages from her former student.

Describing the process after the hearing held today at the Kırşehir Courthouse Criminal Court of Peace, Gürlek said that every time she goes to the market, she returns home with her hands shaking, and stated that she has been receiving threatening messages in her emails and on social media for 2.5 years, saying, "The individual who sent the threatening messages was sentenced to 1 year, but it will be sent to the court of appeal.

Whenever I go to the market, the monitoring center calls me.

This sick individual has been coming to our home for 2.5 years, found our mobile phone numbers, and threatened us.

Everything the individual has done has been reported to the prosecutor's office. There are hundreds of insults and blackmail messages in our institutional emails," she said.

"I HAVE BEEN A PRISONER IN MY HOME FOR 7 MONTHS"

Stating that they have tried legal avenues, the academic said, "The individual is demanding 100 thousand liras from us to withdraw the investigation and complaint. The harasser is walking around on the street. I am in my home. I want my right to live like a human being.

Will he only go to prison when I am dead, and will I only make the news then? The police at the Security Directorate are trying to protect us with all their might. What more can they do? I go down to the police station and the monitoring center calls and says, 'Professor, he is near you.' I am asking for help from the authorities," she said.

Another academic who came to support Aldeniz Tuğçe Ezme Gürlek and stated that she never parts with her pepper spray, explained that they are faced with threats at any moment and that she carries pepper spray for protection.
