AKOM announces: Heavy rainfall expected in Istanbul this weekend
The Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Istanbul over the weekend.
According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), precipitation will be effective across Turkey. In Istanbul, heavy downpours are expected, particularly on Saturday and Sunday. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the rainfall will continue on Monday, May 19.
According to the statement from AKOM, no precipitation is expected until Friday, but it is noted that the northeasterly wind (poyraz) will be effective. Over the weekend, heavy downpours are expected to impact Istanbul severely. Citizens are advised to take precautions against this situation.
