Anchovy prices have started to fall
As anchovy prices continue to drop in Rize, public interest is growing. At fish stalls, anchovies are being sold for 100 liras, while whiting is finding buyers at 250 liras and horse mackerel at 100 liras.
Nevzat Sümer, a fisherman in Rize, stated that anchovies are more abundant this season compared to last year. Expressing that the affordable prices have increased public interest in fish, Sümer said, "The price fluctuates, going up and down. Anchovies have brought us joy this year. Hopefully, they will continue to do so."
Sümer also mentioned that they are shipping large quantities of anchovies to other provinces in response to demand.
70-year-old Fatma Göktaş expressed her satisfaction with the abundance and affordability of anchovies, noting that she is happy to see an increase in fish consumption.
