In Istanbul's Ataşehir district, a building sustained damage after a truck traveling on a two-lane road scraped against it. Following an inspection after the incident, the apartment building was sealed off and the residents were evacuated.
The accident occurred around 17:00 on Sakarya Street in the Mevlana Neighborhood. According to allegations, the truck driver scraped the building's protrusion while maneuvering to give way to a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
Upon notification, fire, medical, police, AFAD, and municipal police teams were dispatched to the area. The street was closed to traffic with security tape.
Following the teams' assessment, the damaged structure was sealed off. Some of the residents living in the apartment were placed in the Ataşehir Teachers' House, while others went to stay with relatives.
Ömer Çağul, one of the neighborhood residents, stated that the truck scraped the building while trying to give way to an oncoming vehicle, saying, "Municipal police, police, and other teams arrived. They evacuated our friends from their homes. They sealed our building. They placed them in the Ataşehir Teachers' House. The rest went to their relatives."
