Armed incident at Galataport causes panic: Three shots fired

An unidentified person dining at a restaurant in Galataport fired three shots into the air after being removed from the premises following an argument with waiters. Those involved in the altercation were taken to the Karaköy Police Station.

ARGUMENT ERUPTED OVER TEA AND WATER

According to allegations, the terrifying incident began with a dispute over the bill after the meal. After contesting the bill, the customer asked for tea and water, and an argument ensued with the waiters when the items did not arrive. As the argument escalated, the suspect was removed from the venue and, according to claims, began a physical fight with the waiters before pulling a gun from his waistband and firing three shots.

'CALL THE POLICE'

The suspect, who did not resist the restaurant's security guards, stated that his weapon was licensed and requested that the police be notified. While the investigation by police teams arriving at the scene is ongoing, those involved in the fight were taken to the Karaköy Police Station.

Journalist Hamza Çiftçi explained the details of the incident at Galataport:

Çiftçi stated that 5-6 people attacked a man with a child who was reacting to the fact that his order had not arrived despite being requested multiple times, and that the customer who was attacked then pulled out his gun and fired one shot into the air.

Hamza Çiftçi's post included the following statements:

"At Galataport Baylan, rude waiters attacked a man with a child who was reacting to the fact that his order had not arrived despite being requested multiple times. The man pulled the gun from his waistband and fired one shot into the air.

This man, who was sitting at the table next to us with his child, said, 'I asked for tea 4-5 times but you brought it, how many times have I asked for water, where is my water?' Another waiter intervened and said, 'If the tea didn't come, then there isn't any.' The man said, 'Call your supervisor.' That waiter said, 'I am the person in charge here.' Then the man got up from the table and went inside the cafe.

An argument broke out here with other waiters (I did not witness the dialogue there), and they grabbed the man tightly by both arms in a rough manner while his child was sitting at the table and dragged him out. While the verbal altercation continued outside, one of the waiters first punched the man in the back, and then the others piled on top of the man and started punching him.

As I walked toward the waiters to break up the fight, the man who had fallen to the ground pulled out the gun in his waistband and fired into the air. When I ran to my wife and friends, I saw that my wife had laid the child on the ground to protect him and was shielding him. Then I took my wife, and the child went to his father.

The man surrendered to the arriving security guards and waited for the police inside the cafe. We saw the waiter who punched the man in the back smoking a little way from the venue as he was leaving. Some of the security guards said the man's gun was licensed.
