Attack on doctor at hospital. They barricaded the door

An individual attempted to attack doctors at İzmir City Hospital. Healthcare workers who entered a room barricaded the door with chairs.

According to the information received, security measures were taken by hospital police and gendarmerie teams following a tip-off that C.Y. (50), who had received treatment at İzmir City Hospital some time ago and was alleged to have psychological issues, would come to the hospital with a pump-action shotgun yesterday afternoon.

C.Y. was neutralized in the hospital parking lot by police and gendarmerie teams who identified the arriving vehicle.

During the searches, a pump-action shotgun, cartridges, and a knife were seized in the trunk of the vehicle. C.Y., who was taken to the police station, was released upon the instructions of the public prosecutor following the procedures there.

ARRESTED

When C.Y. returned to the hospital in the evening and said, "I will commit a massacre on the 9th floor of Block C," the situation was reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Police teams arriving at the address approached C.Y., who was sitting on a chair in the parking lot in front of the emergency entrance.

C.Y., who told the police here that 'he had provided a pathology sample for throat cancer screening, that it needed to be aspirated every 12 hours, and that he was not being attended to,' was taken into custody.

In the incident where it was alleged that doctors and other healthcare workers locked themselves in a room and issued a "white code," the suspect was detained after the hospital's emergency duty doctor, B.G., stated that he was filing a complaint against C.Y., claiming that he had threatened him.

C.Y., who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station, was arrested by the duty magistrate.
