Ban announcement from the İzmir Governor's Office
The İzmir Governor's Office Forest Fire Fighting Commission has banned entry to forest areas in 26 designated regions across the city between June 1 and October 31 due to the risk of fire.
In the statement made by the Governor's Office, the decisions taken by the commission were listed.
Accordingly, it was stated that it is prohibited for anyone other than authorized personnel to enter the forest areas in the 26 regions where the districts, villages, neighborhoods, and boundaries are specified, and that stopping or picnicking in these forests, on the roads passing through them, or at the edge of the forest is forbidden.
According to Article 35 of the decision numbered 2024/1 dated 22.05.2024 of the Forest Fire Fighting Commission, entry is prohibited to the following locations: 'Çiçekli, Atatürk Forest, Karacadağ, Kavaklıdere, Dikmendağı, Çatalkaya, Başpınar, Uzunkuyu, Parsa, the afforestation area around Fındıklıdere Çağlan, Kırkgeçit-Çatalçam, Karadere, Yamanlar-Karagöl, Meryemana, Mehmetler, Korucuk, Nif Mountain, Kartal Forest, Doğanbey Forest, the Armutlu-Bayramlı road route, all forests within the borders of Kurudere Village, Kestane Stream, Aliağa district central forests, Pınarcık forests, Buca-Sarnıç, and Oğlananası.'
The statement continued, "Citizens will only be able to use the picnic areas allocated to them by taking the necessary precautions. Picnic areas must be vacated after fires lit in these areas are completely extinguished and the area used is cleaned."
The statement also noted that 'organizations related to the construction and maintenance of energy transmission lines will carry out necessary maintenance, especially in sections of the lines passing through forest areas, and will be able to cut off energy in the line if requested by the authorities.'
CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT WILL BE KEPT READY
It was stated that municipalities will create protection zones around waste collection areas located inside, at the edge of, or adjacent to forests and will keep the necessary construction equipment (dozers, loaders, excavators) ready against the risk of fire.
On the other hand, it was reported that the İzmir City Forest within the Çiçekli forests is not included in this ban.
