Birthday chocolates send 10 students to the hospital
In the Tarsus district of Mersin, 10 children were hospitalized after allegedly falling ill from consuming chocolates distributed for a student's birthday at a high school.
The incidentoccurred in theTarsus Borsa İstanbul Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, located in the Baglar neighborhood of the district. According toallegations, 10 studentsin the 9th gradeat theschoolThe student, who had purchased chocolates from an outside market for theirbirthday,distributed the chocolates,and afterconsuming them, they becameill. Due to suspectedfood poisoning, the school administrationreported the situation to medical teams.
10 students were taken to Tarsus State Hospital by ambulances dispatched to the school.
District National Education Director Mustafa Antepliowent to the hospital to receive information about the students who fell ill.
Municipal police teams also began inspections at the market where 2 boxes of chocolates were purchased for astudent's birthday. Initial investigations revealed that the products were kept in unsanitary conditions and had expireddates.thefact that some of the productsdrew attention.
Thechildren are in good health, and the investigation into the incidentcontinues.
