Treasure hunting tragedy in Bursa: 3 people die from generator gas poisoning in a cave
Three treasure hunters conducting illegal excavations in Bursa lost their lives due to gas leaking from a generator. The lifeless body of one individual was found at the cave entrance, while the other two were located inside the cave by gendarmerie search and rescue dogs.
In the Karadere area of the Gürmüzlü neighborhood in Bursa's İznik district, three friends were affected by gas leaking from a generator while conducting illegal excavations in a cave.
It is alleged that the cave has been a target for treasure hunters for a long time and that excavations have been carried out periodically. Upon receiving the report, gendarmerie and 112 emergency teams arrived at the scene and found the lifeless body of one of the treasure hunters at the entrance of the cave.

Upon reports that there were two more people inside the cave, the gendarmerie teams requested assistance from search and rescue and AFAD teams. Search and rescue dogs named Damga and Meftun, who arrived at the scene, located the lifeless bodies of the two other treasure hunters. The number of people who lost their lives in the incident rose to 3.

While the Public Prosecutor's Office continues its investigation into the matter, it was learned that the bodies of the treasure hunters will be removed from the cave and taken for autopsy.
The gendarmerie is also conducting a detailed investigation into whether there were other individuals acting as lookouts during the incident.
Gürmüzlü Neighborhood Headman Zeynel Çetin said, "The incident came to light when the individuals could not be reached since the evening. News could not be received from a person who was born in this village but lived in Gölcük. The situation was discovered when the individuals, who were estimated to have done this work before, could not be reached. Our gendarmerie and prosecutor's office are investigating the incident," he said.
