Car collides with passenger bus: 4 dead

A car collided with a passenger bus in the Didim district of Aydın. As a result of the collision, 4 people lost their lives. The bus driver was taken to the District Police Department to provide a statement.

Car collides with passenger bus: 4 dead

In the Didim district of Aydın, a car with license plate 09 AIT 232, driven by Erdinç Atılgan (54), collided with a passenger bus with license plate 06 BD 9008, operated by A.I. and belonging to Varan Turizm, on the Didim-Söke highway near the Uslu Sitesi location.

TEAMS ARRIVED AT THE SCENE

Upon notification by other drivers who witnessed the accident to the 112 Emergency Call Center, fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the area. Teams from the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Didim Fire Department extracted those trapped in the car and handed them over to medical personnel.

While the driver and passengers on the bus, which sustained damage to its front, escaped the accident with minor scratches, Serap Atılgan (43) and the couple Ayşe Sazboğa (44) and Yasin Sazboğa (44), who were in the car, were transported to Didim State Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, Erdinç Atılgan, who was trapped in the vehicle, lost his life at the scene. His wife, Serap Atılgan, and Ayşe Sazboğa and Yasin Sazboğa, who were taken to the hospital, could not be saved despite all interventions performed at the hospital.

Following the accident, the public prosecutor conducted an investigation at the scene, and the Didim-Söke road was closed to traffic. The vehicles involved in the accident were removed from the area with the help of a tow truck. The passengers on the bus were evacuated from the area by another vehicle.

It was learned that Erdinç Atılgan and his wife Serap Atılgan, who lost their lives in the accident, were tradespeople in the district running a car wash, and that Ayşe Sazboğa and Yasin Sazboğa worked as cleaning staff at a school in the district. It was stated that the Atılgan and Sazboğa families were set to become in-laws in the near future.
