Carnivorous grasshoppers draw attention with their size
Carnivorous grasshoppers that draw attention with their size have been spotted in the rural areas of the Çermik district in Diyarbakır.
Giant carnivorous grasshoppers were seen in various locations around the Kral Yolu area of the district. The carnivorous grasshopper, known by its Latin name "Saga ephippigera," which is frequently encountered in fields and wooded areas and draws attention with its size and sound, is also known to occasionally appear in residential areas when it faces food shortages.
Mehmet Musa, a licensed tour guide who was on a trip along the Kral Yolu, stated that he had seen these giant carnivorous grasshoppers, which he had never encountered before, and that they were very different.

Prof. Dr. Ali Satar stated that these carnivorous grasshoppers can grow up to 25 centimeters in length and live in high-altitude areas of Southeastern Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia, and other regions.
Pointing out that they are completely harmless, Satar said, "They cause no harm to humans or agriculture. They are beneficial to agriculture. Because they eat harmful insects, these carnivorous grasshoppers are very beneficial to agriculture. Therefore, we must protect them."
