Chemical exposure panic in Kocaeli
Four workers performing cleaning operations at a chemical storage facility in the Organized Industrial Zone in the Dilovası district of Kocaeli fell ill after being exposed to a chemical substance.
The incident occurred at around 17:00 at a chemical storage facility operating in the Dilovası Organized Industrial Zone (OSB).
According to allegations, 4 workers who were cleaning a tank sought medical attention at Dilovası State Hospital, accompanied by factory officials, after experiencing nausea and dizziness following contact with a chemical substance.
Upon notification of the situation, fire, medical, and police teams, along with a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) incident response vehicle, were dispatched to the hospital.
CBRN teams, intervening with special protective clothing, performed the initial treatment on the workers in a unit set up in the hospital garden. Following the initial intervention, the workers were transferred to Gebze Fatih State Hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
