During his campaign process before the March 31, 2024 local elections, CHP Pamukkale Mayor Ali Rıza Ertemur emphasized that he would fight decisively against illegal construction and would not turn a blind eye to projects that harm nature. In line with this, he carried out the demolition of an illegal structure that was damaging the environment.

The illegal structure, which began construction in the middle of the forest during the term of AKP Pamukkale Mayor Avni Örki, had caused harsh reactions from environmentalists and local residents.
