Coast Guard boat crashes, personnel injured
Military personnel were injured after a Coast Guard Command boat struck breakwater rocks in Giresun.
According to the information obtained, a boat belonging to the Giresun Coast Guard 73 Command, affiliated with the Coast Guard Eastern Black Sea Group Command, struck the breakwater rocks on the coast of Teyyaredüzü Neighborhood for reasons yet to be determined.
As a result of the impact, military personnel on board the boat were injured. Upon notification by citizens who witnessed the accident, 112 Emergency Health, search and rescue, police, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area.
The injured military personnel, who received initial medical intervention at the scene, were transported by ambulance to Giresun Training and Research Hospital and Prof. Dr. A. İlhan Özdemir State Hospital.
It was learned that the injuries of the personnel are not life-threatening.
Following the accident, the damaged Coast Guard boat was cordoned off, and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the incident.
