Correctional facility shuttle bus overturns: Many injured

The accident occurred around 9:00 PM on the Antalya-Burdur road, on Akdeniz Boulevard in the Yeşilbayır neighborhood of the Döşemealtı district.

According to the information obtained, the shuttle bus with license plate 07 C 4119, which was transporting personnel working at the correctional facility, overturned onto the median after the driver lost control of the steering wheel for reasons yet to be determined.

Upon notification by other drivers who witnessed the accident to the 112 Emergency Call Center, AFAD, fire department, police, UMKE, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

The personnel inside the overturned minibus were extracted from the vehicle by AFAD and fire department teams. According to initial reports, 16 personnel working at the correctional facility were injured in the accident. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances that arrived at the scene.

"There are no serious injuries"

Making a statement regarding the accident, Antalya Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Adnan Tabar said, "Our shuttle vehicle, which was transporting correctional officers who had finished their shift at our prison campus to the city center, had an accident around 8:30 PM in our Döşemealtı district.

The driver lost control of the steering wheel due to a vehicle that appeared in front of it and overturned into the ditch.

16 of our correctional officers were injured. There are no serious injuries. They have been taken to nearby hospitals. We will go to the hospital to check on the condition of our colleagues. A judicial investigation has been launched into the incident," he said.

An investigation into the accident has been launched.

GET WELL SOON MESSAGE FROM MINISTER GÜRLEK

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek issued a get-well-soon message for the 16 correctional officers injured after the shuttle bus overturned in Antalya.

In his message, Minister Gürlek stated, "I learned with sadness that a shuttle bus carrying our personnel working at the Antalya Correctional Institutions Campus was involved in a traffic accident. Our 16 personnel injured in the accident have been transferred to various hospitals in Antalya, and thankfully, none of our personnel are in life-threatening condition. We are closely monitoring the health status of our injured. I wish a speedy recovery to our valued colleagues who are undergoing treatment and extend my best wishes to all our personnel affected by the accident."
