Daughter of arrested mother: Please save my mother, she is not a monster

The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 23 in the Yavuzlar neighborhood of the Yüreğir district. It is alleged that 35-year-old Ayşegül Y. brandished a knife at her 10-year-old daughter, E.H.Y.

The girl, overcome with fear, ran into the street and asked bystanders for help. Citizens who heard the child's screams immediately intervened. These moments were captured on mobile phones by those nearby.

Following the emergence of the footage, teams from the Yüreğir District Police Department took the mother, Ayşegül Y., into custody in the Yavuzlar neighborhood. Her daughter, E.H.Y., was located at the home of relatives and placed under protective custody.

The mother was referred to the courthouse today after giving her statement. During the transfer, Ayşegül Y. claimed that she was protecting her daughter and had not brandished a knife at her. After testifying to the prosecutor, the woman was arrested by the duty magistrate.

RELATIVES REACTED

Upon hearing the news of her mother Ayşegül Y.'s arrest, E.H.Y. broke down in tears outside the courthouse. As the child cried, her relatives reacted by saying, "Are you happy now? Is this better?"

In a video uploaded to her mother's social media account, E.H.Y. tearfully pleaded for her mother to be saved. In the video, the child stated, "My mother is not actually that kind of person; I have no problems with my mother.

She just wanted to protect me from them. I really want my mother to be released. Please save my mother, this is a misunderstanding; everyone thought it was real. Okay, she pulled my hair, why? She pulled it so I wouldn't go to them, and she brandished the knife at them. You are blowing this out of proportion, calling her a monster mother. My mother is not a monster; she raised me to this age, and I grew up thanks to her."
