Daughter of man killed in post-accident dispute: 'Our father beat cancer, but lost to a road bully'
The children of Abdullah Coşkun, who lost his life after being beaten during a traffic dispute in the Keşap district of Giresun, have spoken out. Coşkun's children stated, "Our father, who beat cancer, became a victim of a road bully. Our father will not return, but we want justice to be served so that others do not suffer."
The incident occurred at the Karakoç Village junction on the Black Sea Coastal Road in Keşap. Allegedly, a dispute broke out between two drivers over right-of-way. The argument escalated quickly and turned into a physical altercation.
It was reported that one of the drivers, identified as İ.İ., got out of his vehicle, approached the car where Abdullah Coşkun was, and a physical confrontation ensued. Coşkun, who was severely injured by the blows he received, could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital where he was taken.
Describing how the fight that led to her father's death began, his daughter Ayşe Coşkun said, "My mother and father were traveling when they heard a slight noise from the back of the car and stopped to check it."
At that moment, another vehicle pulled up and stopped in front of them. While my father was trying to open the window to ask what was happening, the driver started punching him."
Then he pulled my father out of the vehicle and continued to beat him. There were signs of trauma on his face at his funeral, and there were also clear marks indicating he had been struck with an object," she said.
"HE WAS UNDERGOING CANCER TREATMENT"
Explaining that her father had been receiving treatment for lung cancer for many years, Coşkun said, "My father was undergoing treatment. The cancer cells had been cleared, and he was in the follow-up phase. There had been no negative findings for the last year. He was enjoying this happiness and was traveling to his hometown with my mother. He had beaten cancer, but he became a victim of a road bully. Our father will not return, but we want justice to be served so that others do not suffer. That is why we want him to receive the heaviest sentence possible."
Abdullah Coşkun's son, Emrah Coşkun, issued a call, saying, "We expect those who witnessed this incident or have any footage or information to help ensure that justice is served."
