Decision regarding mother who left 6-month-old fetus on vacant lot
In Istanbul's Güngören district, a mother who took medication to induce a miscarriage while six months pregnant and then left the fetus on a vacant lot has been released under judicial control.
According to allegations regarding the incident that occurred yesterday evening in the Güneştepe neighborhood of Güngören, a dead fetus was found hidden among stones by children playing on a vacant lot on the street. It was determined that the woman, who was six months pregnant, had taken medication a week earlier to induce a miscarriage and had left the fetus on the land.
Following the incident, H.A., identified as the baby's father, and the mother, P.N.D., were apprehended and taken into custody. After the teams' investigations, the fetus found on the lot was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
The mother and father were referred to the Bakırköy Courthouse for the crime of "inducing a miscarriage" after their procedures at the police station were completed.
The suspect mother, P.N.D., was released by the on-duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace under judicial control conditions. It was learned that the father, named H.A., was released by the prosecutor's office.
