Demonstration marches and outdoor meetings banned in Iğdır for 7 days
The Iğdır Governor's Office has announced that demonstration marches and outdoor meetings have been banned for a period of 7 days.
In a statement issued by the Governor's Office, it was stated that demonstration marches and outdoor meetings have been banned within the provincial and district administrative boundaries for a period of 7 days, from 00:01 on 04.06.2024 to 23:59 on 10.06.2024.
The statement noted that events deemed appropriate by the governor's and district governor's offices, programs organized by public institutions and organizations, official holidays, official commemoration days, sports activities, official ceremonies and celebrations, programs held by these institutions in accordance with their traditions and customs, congresses held by unions and political parties in accordance with their bylaws, and commercial activities of private legal entities with commercial status are excluded from the bans.
The statement from the Governor's Office included the following expressions:
"All kinds of potential outdoor meetings and demonstration marches, mass welcoming and farewell ceremonies, press statements made by institutions and organizations outside their own buildings, sit-ins, rallies, tent pitching, petition campaigns, stand setups, mass funeral ceremonies and cemetery visits, commemoration ceremonies, festivals, concerts, entertainment, theatrical performances, demonstrations, etc., all actions and events of this type, all kinds of audio and visual activities that can be carried out with sound broadcasting vehicles, sky lanterns, balloon releases, all kinds of aerial activities such as drones and paramotors, etc., as well as the distribution of flyers, stickers, brochures, etc., the hanging of posters and banners, etc., and individuals coming from outside our province in groups to participate in actions and events to be held throughout our province, as well as mass entries and exits between the city center and districts, are banned within the entire provincial borders, including the Iğdır city center and districts, and all police and gendarmerie responsibility zones, for a period of 7 days from 00:01 on 04.06.2024 to 23:59 on 10.06.2024, in accordance with Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstration Marches No. 2911 and Articles 11/A, B, and C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442 (including the gendarmerie zone)."
