The wildfire that started on Başkarcı Mountain in Denizli's Merkezefendi district continues into its fifth day. While the firefighting efforts, which began on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 14:48, are facing difficulties due to the rugged and rocky terrain, aerial and ground intervention continues with a total of 7 aircraft, 67 water tenders, 43 first-response vehicles, 22 construction machines belonging to the General Directorate of Forestry, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of National Defense, as well as municipal fire trucks, water tankers, and construction equipment from public institutions.
While efforts to extinguish the fire continue with approximately 1,600 personnel, the fire has reached the border of the Tavas district. Tavas Mayor Kadir Tatık issued a video call for help to citizens.
Tatık stated the following:
“The fire has now reached the Tavas border and is spreading in a way that is difficult to control. We are asking all our citizens... Only those who have tractors and can bring water, we ask them to bring water to the Yeroluk Pool in a way that will not cause unnecessary traffic congestion. We are waiting for this very urgently. Because without water, we have no chance of stopping this.”
