Disco ball fell on stage, bride injured: Statement from her lawyer
A statement has been released by a lawyer regarding the incident in the Gölcük district of Kocaeli, where a disco ball fell onto the stage during a henna night, injuring the bride and two other people.
Stating that they have filed a complaint against the business regarding the matter, the lawyer for the bride and groom said, "In our opinion, it is a great stroke of luck that there was no loss of life in such a crowd. Unfortunately, the couple's happiest day was ruined."
The incident occurred yesterday at around 22:00 at a wedding hall located on Ömer Türkçakal Boulevard in the Sanayi neighborhood. Guests gathered for the henna night of B.M. (28) and B.S. (28) experienced a great shock. A moving disco ball inside the hall detached and fell onto the bride and two guests. While the injured were taken to the hospital, it was learned that none of the 3 individuals are in life-threatening condition.

"NO ONE HAS LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES"
Lawyer Rıdvan Can Erdem, who attended the bride and groom's henna ceremony, made statements regarding the issue. Explaining that the disco ball fell into a spot where 50 people were present, Atty. Erdem said, "Towards the end of the event, while the parties were having fun in the dance area covering approximately 30 square meters inside the hall, the disco ball detached from its place and fell onto the area. We determined from the footage that about 50 people were dancing in this area. In our opinion, it is a great stroke of luck that there was no loss of life in such a crowd. Two people other than the bride were injured. Thank God, the health status of all of them is good. No one has life-threatening injuries," he stated.

"IT MAY TURN INTO A CRIME OF INJURY BY EVENTUAL INTENT"
Stating that the prosecutor's office has launched an investigation, Lawyer Erdem said, "Statements were taken from suspects, including the business owners and organizers. We also gave our statement as complainants this morning. The investigation is currently being conducted under the scope of the crime of negligent injury. However, we believe that it may turn into a crime of injury by eventual intent depending on the extent of negligence in the incident as the process continues."
"THEIR HAPPIEST DAY WAS RUINED"
Stating that they will follow the legal and criminal process regarding the incident, Atty. Erdem emphasized that their goal is not financial gain, but for those responsible to be held accountable before justice. Erdem said, "Unfortunately, the couple's happiest day was ruined. We will continue our struggle to ensure that these incidents do not happen to other couples," he said.
Providing information about the wedding planned for tomorrow, Erdem said, "Since the couple's health condition is currently suitable, there is no postponement. Their morale is not very good, but they are trying to keep it as high as they can. However, it is not possible to eliminate the unpleasantness of this incident that occurred," he stated.
