Donation notice posted for muezzin who did not come because there was no housing
In the city center of Eskişehir, the management of a mosque, which reportedly has no religious official assigned because it lacks staff housing, requested donations from the congregation for a house allegedly valued at 1 million 950 thousand TL.
A notice posted at the entrance of the Hacı Havva Mosque in the Deliklitaş neighborhood stated, "Attention to our congregation: We have been informed by the mufti's office that a muezzin cannot be assigned to our mosque because there is no housing for the muezzin.
If there are members of our congregation who can assist with housing, we kindly request that you apply to our association," and "We have started work to acquire housing and financial support is needed for this. We await your contributions," were the messages included in the notices.

Some citizens passing by the mosque who noticed the sign reacted to the situation. It was learned that the price of the house, which is allegedly being purchased with donations to be used as housing for the muezzin's assignment, is over 1 million 500 thousand TL. Some citizens expressed the opinion that the religious official to be assigned should cover their own housing from their salary.

"IT WOULD BE A BIT DIFFICULT TO COLLECT FROM THE CONGREGATION"
Hüseyin Solhan, who runs a haberdashery in the area, said regarding the issue, "The citizens are not in a position to cover all of this. If one of them comes forward and says, 'Brother, I am in a good financial situation,' or if 5-6 or 10 people get together and give, that is a different matter. But there is no situation where this money can be collected from the congregation to buy it right now. The congregation does not have such a problem. Of course, we don't know who among them is well-off or not. 1 million 950 thousand, which is close to 2 trillion in old currency, is a lot of money. It would be a bit difficult to collect this from the congregation or the public, that is."

"HE WILL BUY HIS OWN HOUSE WITH HIS SALARY"
Celal Güler, a retired civil servant, argued that the money requested from the congregation was illogical and spoke as follows;
"Everyone will buy their own house with their own money. Does the state pay a salary? Yes, it does. I am also retired from civil service, I saved my own money and bought my home. No one collected money for me. That is why I am against collecting money for this. I mean, if he has a need, he should cover it himself and buy it. It is unnecessary and illogical.
If the state pays a salary to civil servants, he should buy his own house with his salary. We did everything with our own money, we educated our children as much as we could, but we did not receive 5 kuruş of help from anyone. If the state pays a salary, if he is a civil servant, he should buy his own house himself."
"RENTS ARE BETWEEN 15 AND 40 THOUSAND"
Regarding rental and housing prices in the Deliklitaş neighborhood and nearby surrounding neighborhoods, Eskişehir Chamber of Real Estate Agents President Gazi Çelik said, "The place you are mentioning and asking about is a central location in Eskişehir.
It is an old neighborhood with easy transportation and is convenient for shopping centers. Since it is a region where you can walk everywhere without using a vehicle, rents there vary between 15 and 40 thousand lira at the cheapest. We can say that the average price for 1+1 apartments in Eskişehir is 1.5 million lira.
I mean, there are 1+1s that start from 800 thousand and go up to 2 to 2.5 million lira. When we look at the average, 1.5 million is quite normal," he said.
