Employment contracts of 192 people hired by Batman Municipality terminated

The statement included the following: "Applications for 121 personnel were received through a 1-day 'pirate advertisement,' and 121 candidates were selected through a 'so-called interview,' with 113 people starting work within Personel A.Ş."

The statement noted that it was determined that 121 of those hired were recruited via a "pirate advertisement" process, with 113 starting work, while 79 were hired without any advertisement at all. It was pointed out that in the recruitment processes for these 192 individuals, it was understood that notifications for personnel recruitment were made to the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) without complying with the provisions of the "Regulation on Procedures and Principles to be Applied in the Recruitment of Workers in Public Institutions and Organizations."

The statement included the following remarks:

"Applications for 121 personnel were received through a 1-day 'pirate advertisement,' and 121 candidates were selected through a 'so-called interview,' with 113 people starting work within Personel A.Ş. Meanwhile, 79 personnel were hired within Belkent A.Ş. without even an advertisement being posted. It was understood that they were put to work without complying with the 'Procedures and Principles Regarding the Execution of Services Based on Personnel Employment by Special Provincial Administrations, Municipalities, and Their Affiliated Organizations and Local Administration Unions of Which They Are Members,' and without the necessary security and archive investigations being conducted. In this context, the names of the 121 personnel intended to be hired by Personel A.Ş. were sent to the Provincial Security Directorate for security and archive investigations, but it was determined that 113 people were put to work without waiting for the results of these investigations. Furthermore, examinations conducted by our Mayor's Office determined that among the personnel hired at different dates after March 31, 2024, there were individuals with criminal records for offenses including terrorism, sexual harassment, importing, reproducing, selling, transporting, or exporting obscene publications involving children, drug trafficking, bid rigging, and theft, in addition to those convicted of terrorism-related crimes. Due to the detection of the aforementioned irregularities in the recruitment process, the employment contracts of a total of 192 people within Personel A.Ş. and Belkent A.Ş. have been terminated," the statement said.

On November 4, 2024, Governor Ekrem Canalp was appointed as a trustee to the Batman Municipality by the Ministry of Interior.
