Eyüpsultan Mayor Dr. Mithat Bülent Özmen: Urban transformation is a transformation of life

Eyüpsultan Mayor Dr. Mithat Bülent Özmen visited the Istanbul Contractors and Business People Association (İMİDER). During the meeting, many topics in the fields of construction and urban planning, primarily the urban transformation and infrastructure projects being carried out in the district, were discussed.

“WE WILL ACT TOGETHER”

Pointing out the importance of the public and private sectors acting together for the sustainable development of Eyüpsultan, Özmen said:

“When we met with you before the election, we spoke openly about what we could and could not do. Since that day, we have been in constant contact with the association's management. We have established a communication team consisting of industry representatives. We want to solve problems, deficiencies, and needs by talking face-to-face. What matters to us is intent and capability. We have the technical equipment to produce solutions to the extent permitted by legislation. In the face of the reality of earthquakes, we are working in close cooperation with contractors and industry representatives to make our district resilient.”

EMPHASIS ON “COMMON SOLUTIONS”

Stating that the projects implemented in Eyüpsultan aim for not only physical but also social and cultural transformation, Özmen said, “Urban transformation is not just the renewal of buildings; it means ensuring that our citizens live in a safer, healthier, and more comfortable environment. It is very valuable for us to discuss this process at the same table with institutions that have a say in the sector and to produce common solutions.”

“STRENGTHENS THE INVESTMENT ENVIRONMENT”

İMİDER President İrfan Tutacak stated that the visit was of great importance to them, saying, “Eyüpsultan Municipality displays a transparent, solution-oriented attitude regarding planning notes and licensing processes. This approach strengthens the investment environment.” Tutacak emphasized that the regulations recently implemented by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the district municipality have paved the way for the sector.

MESSAGE OF COOPERATION FOR THE FUTURE

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to increase mutual cooperation in the coming period. Özmen concluded his words by saying, “We will be in constant communication with contractors, business people, and non-governmental organizations to build not just today, but the Eyüpsultan of the future.”
