Father's horror in İzmir: Killed 1 daughter, wounded the other! Attempted suicide

Umut Akbaş (34), residing on 3721 Street in the Abdi İpekçi neighborhood, shot and wounded his daughters, Seda (10) and Tuğçe Akbaş (6), at his home with a handgun.

Umut Akbaş then fired the gun at his own head.

Upon reports from neighborhood residents who heard the gunshots, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

The wounded were taken by medical teams to the Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital and the Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Training and Research Hospital.

Tuğçe Akbaş, one of the wounded, could not be saved despite medical intervention.

It was stated that the father and his other daughter remain in critical condition.

It was learned that Umut Akbaş had psychological issues and was in the process of divorcing his wife, with whom he had been living separately for some time.

It was reported that Akbaş, who wanted to reconcile through relatives but had his offer rejected, had asked for his children to stay at the house to spend time with them, and that his wife had left the house for a while.
