Fire at factory in Tekirdağ brought under control

A fire that broke out at a leather manufacturing factory in the Çerkezköy district of Tekirdağ has been brought under control.

Fire at factory in Tekirdağ brought under control

Employees at the leather manufacturing factory in the Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone reported the fire to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Firefighting, police, and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the scene to respond to the fire.

The factory was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and citizens were moved away from the area as a precautionary measure.

The fire was fought by approximately 20 fire trucks from the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality and the Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone, along with 2 water cannon vehicles (TOMA) from the Provincial Security Directorate and 2 AFAD teams.

Two workers affected by smoke and one firefighter who was slightly injured after falling from a height were taken to Çerkezköy State Hospital by medical teams.

Meanwhile, fire crews rescued a pigeon that had become trapped on the factory roof during the fire. The teams gave the bird water before releasing it outside the factory.

Çerkezköy District Governor Nazmi Günlü, Kapaklı District Governor Mustafa Gürdal, Çerkezköy Mayor Vahap Akay, and Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone Board Chairman Eyüp Sözdinler also arrived at the scene to monitor the efforts.

The fire was brought under control after 9 hours of intervention by the fire department. Cooling efforts by the teams are ongoing.
