Fire breaks out in gym sauna in Batman: 2 dead, 9 injured
11 people were affected by a fire that broke out in the sauna section of a private gym in the Gültepe neighborhood. Governor Ekrem Canalp announced that 2 people lost their lives.
A fire broke out in the sauna section of a private gym located in the Gültepe neighborhood of Batman. 2 people lost their lives and 9 people were injured in the fire, which started for reasons yet to be determined.
Upon the flames growing and thick smoke engulfing the facility, fire, medical, and UMKE teams were dispatched to the area. With the intervention of the teams, the fire was brought under control and extinguished.
Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp stated that 11 people were affected by the fire, adding that one of the injured is in critical condition, while the health status of 8 others is stable.
Canalp said, “Unfortunately, we have lost 2 of our citizens. The fire department is conducting its own investigation into the cause of the fire. The fire department has conducted repeated searches. No trace of any other citizen was found.”
While cooling efforts continue in the area following the fire, an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the incident.
