Flooding in Tunca and Meriç rivers captured from the air
Following increased rainfall in Edirne and water releases from dams in Bulgaria, the flow rates of the Tunca and Meriç rivers have risen, leaving some agricultural lands and hobby gardens submerged. The extent of the flooding was captured from the air by drone.
The recent increase in flow rates in the Tunca and Meriç rivers in Edirne has led to flooding. The rivers, which rose due to both rainfall and the impact of water released from dams in Bulgaria, were captured from the air.
According to the latest measurements, the flow rate at the Kirişhane Measurement Station on the Meriç River was recorded at 1,088 cubic meters per second, and at 1,230 cubic meters per second at the İpsala Measurement Station.
The flow rate at the Tunca River Measurement Station rose to 161 cubic meters per second, reaching the orange alert level.
Due to the rising water levels, hobby gardens and agricultural lands located in areas near the riverbeds were submerged. It was observed that the water spread over a wide area in locations close to residential zones.
Recai Servi, a farmer in the village of Karayusuflu in Edirne's Meriç district, stated that the water level had risen significantly, leaving dozens of agricultural fields underwater and causing some village roads to be closed to traffic.
