Teams are continuing efforts to bring the fire under control in the region, where strong winds are having an impact.
STATEMENT BY İZMİR GOVERNOR ELBAN
İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban, in a written statement regarding the fire, reported that the first response to the forest fire, which started at 12:57 p.m. between the Kuyucak neighborhood of Menderes and the Orhanlı neighborhood of Seferihisar, was made at 1:12 p.m.
Elban shared the information that 678 personnel, including 6 aircraft, 23 water tenders, 6 water supply vehicles, 3 bulldozers, 112 Emergency Health, police, gendarmerie, and fire department teams, have been dispatched to the forest fire.
Stating that the efforts are continuing without interruption, Governor Elban noted the following:
"Due to adverse weather conditions and the storm affecting the region, our helicopters have been grounded as a precaution, and interventions from the air are being carried out solely with aircraft. With the superior effort and coordination of all our institutions, our work continues uninterrupted with the aim of bringing the fires under control as soon as possible. Our greatest consolation in this difficult process is that there has been no loss of life."
