Forest fire in Karabük enters its 54th hour

The forest fire that began in Çavuşlar village in the Safranbolu district of Karabük and spread to villages in the Ovacık district due to the wind has entered its 54th hour. The village of Davutlar in the Ovacık district has been evacuated as a precaution due to the approaching flames.

Forest fire in Karabük enters its 54th hour

The fire is being fought from the air and on the ground by 15 helicopters and 2 firefighting aircraft, as well as municipal fire departments from Karabük and surrounding provinces, the Provincial Special Administration, Forestry Management Directorate personnel, AFAD, UMKE, the Turkish Armed Forces, security forces, the Red Crescent, volunteers, and citizens. It was observed that in areas where the fire was occasionally brought under control, flames flared up again due to the wind. 

Teams are making intense efforts to bring the fire under control.

Due to the progression of the fire, it was decided to evacuate the village of Davutlar in the Ovacık district as a precaution. Citizens took their necessary belongings, loaded them into their vehicles, and left the village.

Following the evacuation, fire crews stationed in the region and Forestry Management Directorate personnel intensified their efforts as the flames approached the village. According to information obtained, the flames have come very close to Davutlar Village and the risk in the region continues. The teams' battle against the fire continues without interruption.
