Found unconscious: No one should buy mushrooms

Turgut Varol (45), who was poisoned by mushrooms he bought from a vendor at the Mudurnu Market on November 17 in Bolu, wasfound unconscious by hislandlord two days later.

Following the incident, Varol was taken by ambulance to Bolu İzzet Baysal Training and Research Hospital, where he spent 2days inthe intensive care unit undertreatment.

Afterward, for the completion of his treatment,he was transferred to Ankara Etlik City Hospital. Having recovered his health there, Varol returnedto Mudurnu. Hishealth improving, Turgut Varol recounted the dayhe was poisoned and howit happened.poisonedheexplained howit.

"AFTER EATING THE MUSHROOMISTARTED TO FNAUSEA BEGAN"IT STARTED

Turgut Varol said, "I was poisoned by the mushrooms. I bought the mushrooms, but I did not knowwhether they contained toxic substances or not.I bought the mushrooms, came home, cleaned them, and then put them in the pan. I ate the mushrooms that evening. After eating them, nausea began. I don't remember anything after vomiting twice. My landlord, Kenan, found me. The last thing I remember was opening my eyes while going to the hospital.I opened my eyesI remember. They told me in the ambulance, 'You have been poisoned, we are taking you to the hospital.' I stayed at the Boluİzzet Baysal Training and Research Hospital for 2 days. After that, they sent me to the Ankara Etlik City Hospital," he said."I BOUGHT THE MUSHROOMS AT THE MUDURNU MARKET"Stating that he bought the poisonous mushrooms from the Mudurnu Market,Varol warned citizens,

saying, "I bought them from the market. I don't know who sold them.

I advise everyone not to buy mushrooms from the market."Varol said, "I bought the mushroomsfrom the Mudurnu Market. I bought Saffron Milk Cap mushrooms; it is actually a mushroom I know, butmost likely it was contaminated by theother mushrooms sitting next to it. From now on, I will only eat mushrooms if I pick them myself. Quite a few people were poisoned after me. But because they had people with them,they noticed it quickly andtreated them rapidly. Because I live here alone,they found me 2 days later,"he said.

"NO ONE SHOULD BUY MUSHROOMS"

Turgut Varol, who was poisoned by cultivated mushrooms, advised citizens not to buy mushrooms, but to gather them themselves. Varol stated, "In my opinion, no one should buy mushrooms. If they want them, they should gather them themselves. You look at the mushrooms you are buying, but the poisonous mushrooms next to them affect the others."
