Garbage truck set on fire with fireworks
A garbage collection truck was reduced to ashes after being struck by fireworks during unauthorized demonstrations held by a group in the İpekyolu district of Van.
DEM Party Van Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Abdullah Zeydan was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison for "attempting to knowingly and willingly assist an armed terrorist organization" by the Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court on Tuesday, February 11, as part of a terrorism investigation conducted against him.
Following his removal from office on February 15, 2024, Governor Ozan Balcı was appointed by the Ministry of Interior to replace Zeydan.

Following the appointment of the trustee, several fireworks launched during unauthorized demonstrations organized by a group struck a garbage truck. As the flames grew rapidly, the garbage truck burned completely and became unusable.

Upon notification, teams from the İpekyolu Group Command of the Van Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, where they intervened in the fire and brought the flames under control.
