Grocer who harassed students caught via security camera footage

In an incident that occurred in the Çivril district of Denizli, a stomach-churning event was brought to light after a student confided in her school counselor.

According to the information obtained, a female student who entered the grocery store to shop after school hours was cornered and harassed by the store owner, G.T. (57), in the area where the storage room is located.

After the suspect hugged and kissed her, the victimized child fled the store and told her school counselor what she had experienced. Following the revelation of the incident, two other 14-year-old female students attending the same school also filed complaints, stating that G.T. had previously held them by the waist and tried to put his arm around their shoulders.

Security camera footage revealed the truth

Upon the complaints of the students and their families, gendarmerie teams acted quickly. Security camera footage examined by the gendarmerie as part of the investigation supported the statements of the victimized children. The footage showed the victimized girl entering the store's storage area, G.T. being in the storage room at that time, the child leaving the storage room wiping her face with her hand as she tried to walk away, and leaving the store shortly after. Immediately afterward, the moments when G.T. exited the storage room were captured on camera. Witness statements taken as part of the investigation also included claims that the suspect generally had disturbing gazes toward young girls, acted overly familiar, and attempted to touch them.

Initially released, prosecutor objected, sent to prison

The suspect G.T., who was detained by gendarmerie teams, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the station. The suspect, who appeared before a judge, was initially released. However, the Public Prosecutor's Office conducting the investigation quickly objected to the decision. G.T., who was detained again due to the prosecutor's objection and the existing evidence, did not respond to questions from members of the press during his transfer to the courthouse, and it did not go unnoticed that he covered his face with his hands. G.T. was arrested by the court on charges of "Child Sexual Abuse" and sent to prison.

On the other hand, it was learned that the arrested suspect G.T. had a criminal record for harassment from previous years.
