Historical rifle found as waters recede in the Meriç River
A rifle, believed to be of historical significance, was found in an area where the waters of the Meriç River have receded due to drought in Edirne.
The flow rate of the Meriç River, which originates in Bulgaria and flows through Edirne into the Gulf of Saros, has decreased.
Citizens walking on the Meriç Bridge noticed the rifle, which is considered to be historical, among the rocks and reported it to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Police teams arrived at the scene, retrieved the rifle from where it was found, and delivered it to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums. An investigation into the rifle is ongoing.
