Holidaymakers' return ordeal continues

The return journey to major cities continues for citizens who spent the Ramadan Feast in their hometowns and holiday resorts.

In Kırıkkale, the "key junction" that serves as a transit route for 43 provinces, vehicle traffic reached approximately 30 kilometers in the evening hours. Holidaymakers who flocked to the roads on the third day of the feast got stuck in traffic on the Kırıkkale-Ankara D200 highway. While it was observed that vehicles were moving bumper-to-bumper at times, it was seen that the vehicle density continued to increase.

As the flow of vehicles slowed down on return routes, some drivers had difficulty moving in traffic. It was observed that vehicle traffic was flowing on the Kayseri-Kırıkkale D765 highway.

Some intersections were temporarily closed with concrete barriers to ease traffic flow and prevent accidents. The heavy vehicle traffic was captured by drone. Police and gendarmerie traffic teams are working intensively on a 24-hour basis to manage the holiday return congestion.
